Döner kebab is not the same
My first "bed hoppers" experience by month, of course, deserves a brief review here. Not least because it was once again a big surprise for me. or how to maintain the Palatine say "Bärmesens" - -
I am so devious to Pirmasens. An important professional appointment was on my agenda. But this time I'm in the ramp is not looking for a hotel for my accommodation, but for like-minded people who would accept me for two nights with him.
Well, given the relatively small size of Pirmasens (40,000 inhabitants) and the less privileged location of the town, was the list of the couch surfers on the platform of couchsurfing.org possible short. But I was lucky: Sarah and Steffen responded to my request. I was her first couch surfers, "who else comes after Pirmasens," they write. Moreover, "we try to in a High German, we have our own dialect in Pirmasens so that someone else is not so easy to understand." I can only confirm.
The two are so nice and get me for my nine-hour train ride in the evening. We now have a good Wire to each other. And as I consider it a matter of courtesy, keep to show gratitude for the hospitality, I invite both one right after I arrived for dinner. Steffen and Sarah go with me to "Forsthaus Beckenhof" , which is idyllically situated in the heart of the Palatinate Forest. Well, about the quality of the food can be contentious. I'm tired now.
Later, it is a serious difference to my last project. For the two nights in Pirmasens me as a guest room. Although the two have a couch, but this time I do not need to insist on return on this. For me, a very unusual bed hopping. ;-)
The next morning starts early at seven clock. I leave with both the house and have breakfast "classic" at a known fast-food chain. Since there is finally one hour free internet access. An argument that draws me. Since my appointment will take place but only by 13 clock, I used the time to stroll through the rainy Pirmasens. Was done quickly and before I here on individual "sights" reports, I recommend reading the rather Wikipedia entry about the small town .
evening but then the cracker! I have a craving for a kebab. We left on to "Ibo's Grill Room". From the first look at the menu I have to trim. "Ibo" offers there a "vegetarian kebab" in Well, I should but sometimes explain a how work is to remember:.. Originally kebab was just mutton or lamb meat used today - at least outside of Turkey - veal or beef and poultry such as turkey or chicken usual. In "Ibo" is not a lamb. Only chicken and (here it comes) PIG! I gasp, I can not but believe that I'm in the Turkish Restaurant and a Gyros spit rigid. I am so surprised that I only sometimes alternately incredulous look on the map and the tables. "Are you serious," I ask the man behind the counter, which obviously is of oriental origin. ? The doner is in fact a gyro "He says:" Our kebab is made from chicken, but the gyro I also tastes very good! "I have to laugh. Can not believe at this moment, what I see with my own eyes.
Steffen and Sarah show up surprised at my reaction. "All the kebab here in the region offer pork. This is normal here. "No, normal is not it! And I explain both that in Osnabrück certainly search in vain for a Turk, who will sell them gyros. Nevertheless, I begin to have doubts. Is there actually more hotdog vendors in the Republic to break with their religious rules and traditions, as I have ever dared to dream? I promised Steffen and Sarah, make this a question about this publicly: there with you in the region such Turkish restaurants?
If not, then drive to "Bärmesens. Gyros has tasted the very least!
