Why Isnt Bigfoot On Monster Jam ?

book: Test Private Methods "Masterminds of Programming

look outside the box!

Those were my thoughts when I ordered this book. Except a few in the vocational school trip to Java and C I program mainly in C # NET environment -. So one reason to look outside the box once to see what else is there and why it exists.

In the book "Masterminds of Programming" is all about, the inventors of various programming languages in Form of interviews to pierce with questions:

  • For whatever reason they have created a new language to life?
  • see Where the future of this language?
  • What makes the development of a programming language by developing a software?
These are typical questions as to each inventor made. It is interesting that not every language is used for the reasons of which it has emerged.
the book is recommended especially also because the authors are familiar with the different languages and are the inventors of each targeted questions. This brings Diverse and interesting answers with them.

The following languages are covered:
  • C + + ( Bjarne Stroustrup )
  • Python ( Guido von Rossum )
  • APL ( Adin D. Falkoff )
  • Forth ( Charles D. Moore )
  • Basic ( Thomas E. Kurtz )
  • AWK ( Alfred Aho, Peter Weinberger and Brian Kernighan )
  • LUA ( Luiz Henrique de Figueiredo, Roberto Ierusalimschy )
  • Haskell ( Simon Peyton Jones, Paul Hudak, Philip Wadler, John Hughes )
  • ML ( Robin Milner )
  • SQL ( Don Chamberlin )
  • Objective-C ( Brad Cox, Tom Love )
  • Java ( James Gosling )
  • C# ( Anders Hejlsberg )
  • UML ( Ivar Jacobson, James Rumbaugh, Grady Booch )
  • Perl ( Larry Wall )
  • Postscript ( Charles Geschke, John Warnock )
  • Eiffel ( Bertrand Meyer )
Conclusion:
This book expands the horizon of a software developer! It not only shows that popular programming languages exist, but also for what reasons and with what objectives.
